Lee Abrams: Media Innovator Cultural Visionary

Lee Abrams with decades in the trenches reinventing radio, tv news and print.  Passionate about the past but focused on reimagining the future. Consultant to over 1,000 radio stations,  12 major print publications and numerous tv stations and cable networks,  several consumer products and the designer of XM satellite radio programming.  

In the early 21st Century, Abrams was The Tribune Company’s Chief Innovation Officer responsible for helping re-invent the scores of TV stations, cable channels and newspapers that are owned by Tribune,  as well as to help create a new and modern innovation focused culture. While at Tribune,  Abrams  re-structured and energized the creative departments for the TV and TV News group, led and oversaw the redesigning and restructuring of newspapers including The Chicago Tribune,  The Baltimore Sun and The Orlando Sentinel, helping returning them to profitability during a period of crisis in print.

For 10 years before joining Tribune, Abrams was  XM Satellite Radio’s Chief Programming Officer.  Abrams joined XM as their first employee in June 1998 to create satellite  radio.  Designing the programming,  hiring,  overseeing and training a large staff with the mandate to re-invent the sound of radio. With 150 stations to develop and program, Abrams was once again challenged to reinvigorate the radio landscape. Lee Abrams, has been shaping the American radio and media industry for over five decades. During the past 50+ years, he has brought unparalleled ratings and economic success to radio stations in over 400 markets, including 97 of the top 100.  Newsweek listed Abrams as one of America’s “100 Cultural Elite” for his contributions to creating the modern radio; and Radio Ink listed Abrams as one of the 75 most important radio figures of all time having designed many if not most of the  dominant radio formats.

In 1989, Abrams joined Satellite Music Network  (Acquired by Disney) as  Managing Director and oversaw the over 11 satellite delivered formats delivered to over 1,000 stations and was instrumental in the creation and  launch of Radio Disney. 

As a founding partner,  in 1973, of Burkhart/Abrams, the Atlanta-based media consulting giant, Abrams invented and built Album Rock, the first successful FM format. He also designed numerous other highly successful radio formats including the first Classic Rock format at San Francisco’s KFOG; the first FM Urban/Dance format at New York’s WKTU,  among others.  His corporate clients have included every major broadcast group.

Musically, Abrams produced the Grammy-winning CD “Ah Via Musicom” by Eric Johnson—the highest selling rock instrumental album ever, has appeared on several Alan Parsons Project CDs, and worked with major labels and recording artists as a consultant, executive producer and label head. Among his clients have been music industry pioneers, such as The Moody Blues, Yes, Asia, Iron Maiden, Bob Seger, Island Records and Capitol Records

Abrams’ other media projects have included the redesign of Rolling Stone magazine, the launch of TNT Cable Network,  MTV, American marketing consultant to Swatch, Disney and advisor to dozens of entertainment companies. In addition, Abrams has been the subject of feature articles in hundreds of consumer publications including Playboy, Esquire, New York Times, People, The Los Angeles Times, The BBC, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, appeared as a guest on “The Apprentice” series with Donald Trump and is a frequent speaker at Universities and Industry functions.

While at XM, Abrams was responsible for creating programming by signing and developing programming by timeless icons such as Bob Dylan, Quincy Jones, BB King, Wynton Marsalis, Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Tom Petty and others into the XM fold to create passionate original programming.

Abrams resides in Chicago and is a 9,000 hour Commercial and Instrument rated pilot,  musician and is currently writing “Solutions for a Creatively Starved Planet” (working title) to be published in 2026.

Steven Saslow: Media Visionary and Entrepreneur

Steven Saslow is a visionary media, information, and technology entrepreneur with a career spanning over four decades. He served as the CEO of Verance Corporation, a company specializing in watermark technology that has been integral to content security and distribution. His leadership at Verance underscored his expertise in bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical applications within the media industry.

Saslow also founded two successful multimedia companies, ThinkVisual and Rosebud Media, both of which reflect his passion for innovation and storytelling. Through these ventures, he showcased his ability to leverage new media formats and technologies to create compelling content and transformative user experiences. His entrepreneurial ventures have consistently demonstrated his commitment to pushing the boundaries of what media can achieve.

Dave Logan: Chief Production Officer

Dave Logan is a content leader and creative strategist with over 30 years of experience launching new products and turning around underperforming media properties at XM Satellite Radio, CBS, Sony, iHeart, Bonneville, and a variety of major market broadcast properties. He focuses on quickly defining clear team goals, aligning stakeholders, and driving progress on complex creative projects that increase traffic, engagement, ratings, and revenue. A hands-on, motivational manager, Logan is known for nurturing creative talent, quickly building high-performing teams, and translating ambitious ideas into executable plans that deliver measurable results, all of which help users understand, value, and choose our programming. He has managed and mentored teams of writers, editors, graphic designers, and high-profile broadcast personalities, while consistently elevating new and underachieving properties into strong, competitive, award-winning performers. 

Tony Masiello: Chief Technical Officer

Tony is an experienced Operations & Engineering Executive with decades of hands-on knowledge in design, engineering, implementation, and control of content generation and distribution systems. 

Recently providing analysis, system design, project management and technical and operational support for clients in NextGen TV (ATSC 3.0), 5G Broadcast, content management and metadata systems, satellite communications and immersive audio technology. 

As Senior Vice President of Broadcast Engineering and Operations for Sirius/XM he had responsibility for developing and implementing new infrastructure designed to replace legacy systems that allowed Sirius/XM to transition from a primarily broadcast entity to a content generation organization providing new avenues of content monetization coupled with multiple methods of distribution by selecting and implementing next generation content management, playback, AoIP and metadata routing, automation, social media content and distribution systems as well as program and metadata scheduling systems.

During his 16 years at satellite radio responsibilities included the operation of satellite uplink systems, conditional access systems, over the air subscriber activation systems, and all content creation and management systems as well as the design and construction of 82 studios. 

Prior to joining XM and then Sirius/XM Tony spent 10 years as Vice President Technical Operations for the CBS Radio Division responsible for the technical operations and engineering of all the CBS owned radio stations and radio network including all FCC engineering related regulatory and compliance issues. Before CBS, Tony was Vice President of Engineering for Meadowlands Communications responsible for the design, implementation and operation of a nationwide system of satellite uplinks. The service, “Starlink” provided backhaul, uplinking and downlinking service to video and audio clients.

Carrie King: Chief Creative Officer

Bill Carey: Executive Vice President, Strategy

Bill Carey is an award-winning media executive, entrepreneur, and strategic advisor specializing in the integration of AI and digital transformation for news and PR companies. A proven P&L leader with a 30-year track record, Bill has consistently driven audience share and revenue growth in major media markets including New York City, Chicago, and Detroit. In five different instances, he has successfully led major-market television newsrooms and turned around third-place stations to achieve #1 market leadership, including two stations in his hometown of NYC. His current focus involves introducing AI writing tools into PR and news organizations, where he contributes his expertise in the development and implementation of the first-of-its-kind AI specialized domain language model that produces zero hallucinations. Complementing his operational success, Bill is experienced in writing full Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies and developing complete financial, programming, and revenue models for new ventures, both foreign and domestic. This strategic acumen is evidenced by leading the successful integration of CNN Newsource across CBS Stations, launching a successful 24-hour local digital weather channel, and advising numerous international and domestic broadcast startups. Bill is personally a recipient of top industry honors, including a George Foster Peabody Award, a Columbia duPont Silver Baton, a national Edward R. Murrow Award, and two local Emmy Awards, having guided his professional teams to over 100 Emmy awards in total. 

Alexander Sopko - Director of Marketing

Alexander Sopko is the Director of Marketing at Newsfix, overseeing the evolution of the brand and the ongoing management of its audience touchpoints across web, social, email, and partner channels. He develops acquisition and engagement strategies, crafts investor and go-to-market narratives, and helps translate complex product and editorial ideas into clear, compelling stories that resonate with users and stakeholders. Working closely with leadership and creative collaborators, Alexander plans and coordinates campaigns, refines messaging based on performance and audience insight, and ensures every communication reinforces a consistent, differentiated Newsfix identity built to scale as the venture grows.
